This is a basic training course for passive acoustic monitoring (PAM), allowing monitors to learn how to operate PAM system and analysis software.

Course Content
The total course duration is 24 hours, including 1 day of theoretical introduction, 1 day of actual equipment operation and 1 day of data analysis.

Acoustic term definitions, sonar equations, ocean ambient sound, underwater soundscape, important reference materials.
Passive Acoustic Monitoring
Introduction to underwater noise meter, introduction to auxiliary instruments, hydrophone deployment method, interference reduction method, measurement planning, personnel safety, introduction to offshore measurement examples.
Passive Acoustic Analysis
Data processing flow, cetacean sound detection, detection data classification, uncertainty analysis, report writing examples
